Sales tax in Delaware

Is it true that there is no sales tax in this state. Will be on vacation in Maryland, but close to the border with DE.

Any suggestions of malls.

Wish to take advantage of the favourable rate of the GB £ against the US $ to do a spot of shopping.

Delaware is one of the few states without a sales tax on any merchandise. Assuming you%26#39;ll be along I-95, the only mall to speak of is Christiana Mall. Directory and directions at http://www.shopchristianamall.com

If your focus is shopping on clothing, you should note that if your travels take you through Pennsylvania, there is no sales tax on clothing (but other merchandise is taxed).

If you%26#39;re in New York, items of clothing costing under $110 are not taxed. So it%26#39;s possible to buy $1,000 in smaller items of clothing at once in NY without paying tax, or you could get hit for the hefty $40+ in sales tax if you buy a $500 suit. If you are focusing on smaller items, I think you%26#39;ll find a lot more to choose from in NY than at a relatively small shopping mall like Christiana.

Also, don%26#39;t forget to get your savings pass from Macy%26#39;s upon presentation of your passport, which will get you 11% off most of your purchases there.

Yes DE is the ';home of tax-free shopping';! But, as you%26#39;d mentioned, if you travel through NJ on your way to NY there are several malls minutes from the NJ Turnpike (95) and NJ also does NOT tax clothing!

There are several tax free shopping choices available by getting off at the 202 north exit. Concord Pike offer plenty of shopping. Also as some one mentioned Christiana Mall..About 11/2 hour south of Christiana Mall ($2 tolls) would be the Rehoboth Beach area with 3 tax free shopping outlets and some excellent restaurant.s It would be an easy shot straight acroos the state to the bridge to get back to 95. Do not do this on a weekend.

While not a shopper%26#39;s total shopper%26#39;s paradise, the Shipyard Shops of Wilmington, DE ( riverfrontwilm.com/destinations/shopping.html )

are in a revitalized part of the city just south of downtown Wilmington. There is also a boardwalk and restaurants/taverns to plan your shopping and celebrate your bagged bargains.
