I need help! Our family vacation every year is Orlando. I am not a big fan of the beach- I guess I never really got into it! Anyway, my daughter will be turning eleven, and really wants to take her first trip to the beach. We cannot decide which beach to go to- Lewes or Dewey? Or should we try Rehoboth? Is one better than the other? If so, why? Is there a certain area that is better for families? There will be me, hubby, two daughter- eleven and three. It will only be for a long weekend- staying over two nights. Thanks so much for the help!
Which beach-Dewey or Lewes?
Dewey is a party beach. Bethany is a family beach. Lewes is also a family beach, but there%26#39;s not much for the kids to do except go to the beach (no boardwalk). Rehoboth is a family beach, but it is also turning upscale due to the influence of the gay population. I would recommend Ocean City, NJ. Plenty for everyone to do, plus it%26#39;s dry (BYOB). OR....you could stay in Lewes (the waves are easier on little kids) and take a trip or two into Rehoboth to do the rides and boardwalk.
Which beach-Dewey or Lewes?
For a family of four with two children, you should only consider Rehoboth Beach. There is plenty for the family to do besides the beach, including walking the boardwalk, shopping, eating, etc. It sounds like your daughter wants to go to the beach and Rehoboth has a great one with life guards and a large area to spread out.
I would totally disagree with the previous post on several accounts, Rehoboth is NOT upscale nor was it made that way by anyone.
It%26#39;s a resort town and if you vacation in Orlando, you know what that means.
Try and get a hotel on the boardwalk, you%26#39;ll never have to drive anywhere - I recommend the Atlantic Sands.
Let me know if you have any other questions, I%26#39;d be happy to fill you in!
i can%26#39;t argue that dewey has a reputation as a party town, but LOTS of families with kids stay there. we%26#39;ve owned a place in north dewey (north of the split in the road) for 12 years now, and the beach %26amp; streets are always full of kids. it%26#39;s a residential area %26amp; much quieter than the southern part of town. our grandkids %26amp; my sister-in-law%26#39;s grandkids have made quite a few friends on our street there.
Hi
My wife %26amp; I have been going to Rehoboth with our kids for years. Heartily agree with previous post that you should find a hotel on boardwalk. No need to use you car again til you leave. My kids are now 10 %26amp; 8 and love it. Never stayed at Sands, but we like the Henlopen and will be there for a week starting Sunday. Its away from the crowd of beachgoers in the center of the boardwalk, but not too far to walk to the action
