summer place resort

Through RCI I booked a two bedroom at the Summer Place Resort, Bethany Beach. I have%26#39;nt found any reviews of the place. My guess is it%26#39;s a recently converted motel. The photos I found show a dingy pool, which I guess is there so they can claim to have a pool. Can anyone give feedback on the rest of establishment? I%26#39;ve stayed at one poor timeshare, The Resort at Cape Cod. Most others have at least been pretty good.

Did you ever end up going to the Summer Place resort in Bethany Beach Delaware? I have booked for Dec 1, 2006. I%26#39;m a bit skeptical. It will be winter so the outside amenities mean nothing to me. I%26#39;m just concerned about the rooms at this point.

We have stayed at just a couple of RCI resorts, one just west of Disney World in Kissimmee in Florida and it was lovely; then we stayed at one just outside the Wisconsin Dells in Wisconsin and it too was lovely. Though I would never buy into a timeshare again. Between yearly fees, the cost of reservations, and the forced inconvenience, its not worth the hastle. I%26#39;d rather pay full price for a hotel, go when I want, where I want, and not worry about losing points and all the mess with the timeshare. They are a rip-off and we fell for it.

Cathy:

At least you got hooked up with a reputable outfit (RCI)...

Timeshares can make sense for some people (my sister bought in %26amp; is happy so far) but I agree: lots of drawbacks...

Like you said, I like to go whenever it suits, not the same week(s) every year. And then it always seems the most desireable destinations/properties have few availabilities.

IMO, the biggest negative is that it%26#39;s a lot easier to get a great deal when you buy a flight/lodging package, as opposed to just shopping for airfare alone.

Please do write a review of Summer Place Resort! It shows up on SkyAuction a lot and I am sure that travelers would like to check out a review.

I recently inherited the week that my Mom bought at Summer Place. It is not a huge resort like you will find in other places (only about 30 units total) but the condos are always clean and the office staff is nice and helpful. The area is quiet and family oriented. If you%26#39;re looking for four star amenities and lots of action then I suggest staying at the Delano in South Beach, this is not the place for you. However the two bedroom units have a fireplace, full kitchen, 2 1/2 baths, and a loft above the master bedroom with a sauna. If you%26#39;re looking for a nice, quiet, chill place to go then I recommend Summer Place. It is also nice because Bethany is an overall quiet town but if you want more things to do, like shopping or nightlife, than Ocean City, MD, Rehobeth Beach, DE, and Dewey Beach, DE are only a few miles away. As for the comment about it being a former hotel, my Mom bought her timeshare here in the mid-80%26#39;s and I think it was new at the time, so as far as I know it has always been a timeshare.
