Now I%26#39;ve got the attention of some old timers. I%26#39;m a displaced DC%26#39;er who%26#39;s family had a home on Henlopen Ave for decades and want to move there someday when I can sell here.
Does Laura still work front desk at Henlopen Hotel?
Is Lewes Dairy still at the end of Columbia?
How many more places can Grotto%26#39;s put a joint?!

Well, if it isn%26#39;t my friend from the KW forum...
Selling in KW %26amp; buying here is somewhat of an ';out of the frying pan into the fire'; thing real estate-wise (and out of the sauna into the refridgerator climate-wise). Not quite as brutal as KW, but the prices have really spiked over the last five years or so, and there%26#39;s a real ';land-grab'; going on...development everywhere in town %26amp; on all main roads leading there. In the Canal Corkran development (near West Rehoboth*) lots with no waterview were selling for 800K %26amp; up with deed restrictions to make sure you had to build a mansion.
Many of the mobile home park owners have either already sold out or are having offers waved at them annually that make it hard to say no. Most renters know their time is almost up. Not sure where the ';rank %26amp; file'; people who keep RB up %26amp; running will live in five more years.
Don%26#39;t know Laura; Lewes Dairy is still in business on Pilottown Rd. It%26#39;s amazing how many places are gone or have at least changed names %26amp; facades. Like the Avenue Restaurant...LONG gone. Usually the trend is to go more upscale.
Grotto%26#39;s is quite a success story, started by two brothers who had to explain what a pizza was when they first started peddling them without a store...Now about two dozen locations %26amp; even an impressive ';corporate office building'; on Rt. 1. Personally, I don%26#39;t really care for their pizza, (which you don%26#39;t want to say too loud around here), and miss Nick%26#39;s. I do Nicolas but usually get a %26#39;boli.
*The West Rehoboth you remember is rapidly disappearing %26amp; will probably soon be a memory (maybe not a bad thing but some people want to protect what%26#39;s left of it)...
We should trade houses for a week or two sometime....we%26#39;re always looking to visit our daughter in KW but she doesn%26#39;t have room to put us up...

Gosh, you could literally trade RB and KW in your post and it would be accurate, real-estate wise. Shame. You can%26#39;t go back!
Our market will pick up next year, after another mild hurricane season is under our belts and the references to Katrina fade on TV.
See you on other board!
