I am taking my Mom to Rehoboth Beach for Mother%26#39;s Day weekend and I am wondering if you can recommend some outstanding restaurants for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in Rehoboth and especially for Sunday Brunch on Mother%26#39;s Day.
Thank you.
Good Restaurants in Rehoboth Beachwe don%26#39;t go out often when we%26#39;re down...i usually cook at home.
but our favorite, where we usually go for my birthday, is chez la mer. not sure if it will be open yet for mother%26#39;s day though.
been to victoria%26#39;s a couple of times...for brunch AND dinner...and enjoyed it a lot. i%26#39;ve heard that ';the back porch'; has a really good sunday brunch too, but can%26#39;t attest to it from experience.
for lunch, cafe sole has very good food. i%26#39;ve only had take-out sandwiches, but they%26#39;ve been consistently excellent.
Good Restaurants in Rehoboth BeachVictorias would be an excellent brunch choice . For dinner a well kept secret would be the State Room in the Heritage Inn off Rt 1 across from Midway.
Last year we took both Moms to Victoria%26#39;s for Mother%26#39;s Day Brunch Buffet and it was excellent! (They%26#39;re 85 and 83, and it was the first time we%26#39;d ever had them together for Mother%26#39;s Day, since one lives in Oregon!) Great assortment of food, all delicious. They loved it. And with the right table, a view of the Boardwalk. Can%26#39;t remember if we could see the ocean or not. Go early if you can; we had 10:30a.m. reservations and it was perfect. By noon, it had really filled up. You definitely need reservations.
Back Porch has a great brunch menu, but it%26#39;s not buffet if that%26#39;s what you%26#39;re looking for.
If your mom is young and hip (that%26#39;s the crowd it attracts), try the Starboard in Dewey Beach for Sunday Brunch. Their version of Eggs Benedict, with crabmeat instead of Canadian Bacon, is delicious! Best of all, they have a killer Bloody Mary bar. You get a glass with ice and vodka, then choose your own mixer and fixin%26#39;s -- a whole room full of sauces, spices, and seasonings.
Second the recommendation for Chez La Mer. We haven%26#39;t been in a few years, but it%26#39;s a great French restaurant. See if you can sit on the upstairs deck.
We love Nage for lunch or dinner. It%26#39;s in the unlikeliest place -- a strip shopping center on Route 1 -- but absolutely outstanding. Haven%26#39;t yet been to Fish On! outside Lewes, but it gets great reviews. For lunch, check out Striper Bites in downtown Lewes. Good food, and it puts you right near Second Street, which has a bunch of cute little shops for browsing.
For a FABulous view, try Solero, on the top floor of the Henlopen Hotel on the Rehoboth Boardwalk. We%26#39;ve had some outstanding dinners there, and also some real disappointments, but there%26#39;s just no better view in all of Rehoboth. Ocean-front and HIGH! They have a really limited season, so call ahead to see if they%26#39;re open.
A lot depends on your/your mom%26#39;s age and tastes. Tell us more and maybe we can refine the recommendations to make sure you have a great dining experience. There are so many restaurants in the area, and some are among the best on the east coast!
does victoria%26#39;s do a special decoration theme for mother%26#39;s day?
we went there on new year%26#39;s day for dinner a couple years ago (we stay home on new years eve)....
and i was absolutely staggered by the christmas holiday decorations! never seen ANYTHING like it! totally charming!
oh...and another restaurant we%26#39;ve liked the food at, is zebra. been awhile since we%26#39;ve been, though, and the service was a bit...iffy. excellent food, though.
I definitely agree that Victoria%26#39;s for brunch would be perfect, as it is reasonably priced (about $25 I think), has great food, a good view, and what I consider to be ';proper'; decor for a fine restaurant. So often now in that area you%26#39;re paying a fortune for a decent meal but the decor is so industrial and loud it can%26#39;t be fully enjoyed. But I%26#39;m getting off the subject..... I would also suggest Big Fish Grill on Route 1 for lunch or dinner or Crystal%26#39;s for an informal but really good breakfast.
There are so many outstanding restaurants in Rehoboth you could literally spend a week or two sampling them all. Just to mention a few I%26#39;d suggest Espuma, LaLaLand or the Blue Moon, but there are so many more.
One place you hear almost nothing about is ';1776'; in the Midway Shopping center. It%26#39;s almost like a local%26#39;s ';private club'; type subdued atmosphere. They have a different menu every night, you ask what they will be serving when you make reservations.
If you visit Lewes the Buttery is hard to top.
we gave friends of ours a gift certificate to 1776 as a wedding present...they love it! only reason we%26#39;ve never been there is that it%26#39;s a bit too much of a drive for us to feel comfortable with, um, after um, some wine.
