1st Time Visitor

Plan on visiting in mid June for about 4 days with 2 adults and 2 kids (14 %26amp;10) - would like nice accomodations - outdoor pool - oceanfront - possibly kitchenette - any suggestions would be appreciated - thanks.

1st Time Visitor

Rehoboth doesn%26#39;t have limitless options for oceanfront like nearby Ocean City MD (which has hundreds of oceanfront or oceanview choices).

The Boardwalk Plaza is probably your best bet but expensive; the Admiral is also nice, but the Henlopen or Atlantic Sands would be more affordable. These are large hi-rise motels right on the boardwalk, then there are plenty of smaller places that might be ocean view or a short walk to the beach.

Dewey is a more laid-back beach town with ample night-life (a party town, some might say, expect some noise at night) and most of their motels are small low-rises...not many right on the beach but a short walk away.

Have a nice visit.

Rennibug - I%26#39;m originally from the area and my family is going back to stay for a week in mid-june as well. After researching the hotel and condo options, we are going with the First Virginia Avenue Condominiums. You can find them, along with other options on the following website:

As previously stated, there aren%26#39;t a lot of options. Rehoboth has put up a lot of chain hotels on Route 1 going into Rehoboth, but this is a hassle due to the parking situation in Rehoboth. We wanted to find a place where we knew we could park and not have to worry about it. We also went back this past weekend to check out the different condo bldgs and this one seems to be the newest one and the best maintainted based on the areas that we were able to access. Overall, the condo seemed to be the way to go because they do have kitchens. We also took a look at restaurants and unless you want to leave the actual beach area, it seems like you have a choice between the burger/pizza right off the boardwalk places, or upscale highpriced restaurants. You will want to decide soon if you choose to go this route. I made my initial inquiry a few months ago and my deposit was due by Jan 30th. I%26#39;m not even sure if they still have units left. We are renting a 2 bed/2 bath unit, but I believe they also have 1 bedroom units with sleeper sofas? Good luck. I would be interested in knowing how things turn out for you. Wasn%26#39;t sure if you had ever visited the area before. I hope you enjoy it.

Rehoboth is wonderful! You can park your car, then not get in it during your whole stay. Walk everywhere - classic small town America atmosphere. Great for kids - I took my 16 %26amp; 18 year olds last summer, and they walked everywhere, met kids their own ages, and there is a small amusement park %26amp; arcade which they will probably like (again, not large, but adequate for a 10 %26amp; 14 year old evening entertainment. Safe atmosphere - you could probably let them out of your sight for a couple of hours at a time to sneak off on your own without worrying. The hotels on the boardwalk/oceanfront are pretty skanky, except the Boardwalk Plaza, which is pretty nice, but overpriced. I stayed at the Admiral once %26amp; it was truly foul. Condo rentals are almost always 7 days or I would recommend that route. Being from CO, I would hate to give up ocean view out the window, so be careful of your choice - some are cleaner and less skanky than others. One that I hear is very clean is Crosswinds, but it is not on beach and doesn%26#39;t have pool. Either way, I know you%26#39;ll have a great time. If you like seafood, I VERY HIGHLY recommend Jake%26#39;s. I introduced my extended family from Chicago to it last summer and they went nuts over the fresh fish and crabmeat dishes. Outstanding, plus family atmosphere and very reasonable prices for luxury fresh seafood items. Also you must try Nicola%26#39;s for Nic-a-bolis (a Rehoboth institution similar to a calzone-ask for extra sauce to put on top). Always very crowded with an hour wait for dinner so get there before you%26#39;re hungry %26amp; be patient - very inexpensive. Also try the creperie in Penny Lane shopping arcade for breakfast - ham %26amp; cheese %26amp; egg in a freshly made crepe - heaven and very inexpensive!

Thought I would update my info on my condo rental. As I believe I stated in my previous post, I researched the condos that were available on the beach and found that First Virginia Avenue seems to be the newest and nicest property. That being said, I would like to address the info that I just got in the mail which could be a problem for someone not traveling to the area by car. They require that you provide ';ALL'; linen. This includes sheets, blankets, bedspreads, as well as towels and beach towels. I could understand some of this but not the bed linen. I saw that you are traveling from CO so this is not even a little bit practical. For us, we weren%26#39;t happy that even though we are renting a two bedroom, we are only getting one parking place. We are driving in from VA Beach and our daughter is driving in from Pittsburgh, so we are going to have to find someplace to put one of our vehicles. Luckily for us, we have family in the area. This is going to be the first time we%26#39;ve ever gone back to stay in Rehoboth for any length of time since I moved from the area and so far we aren%26#39;t off to the best start. I agree with the previous poster about the hotel and condo choices. I enthusiatically agree with the recommendation for a ';Nickaboli'; and I would also like to recommend Grotto%26#39;s Pizza and Dollys for their salt water taffy and carmel popcorn. Both places are Rehoboth institutions.

This may be a solution to the problem of hauling sheets %26amp; towels for a Rehoboth vacation:

Don%26#39;t know anything about quality or cost, but it might be worth a call to them.

I%26#39;ve known people who buy inexpensive beach towels when they arrive and then just leave them behind at the end of the stay. That may be even cheaper than renting.

Wythany - Thanks for the tip. Luckily with us traveling by car, we%26#39;re going to be able to take our own, but I really did wonder how people traveling from out of the area would deal with this. I never would have thought that such a place existed.

There are several hotel/motels in town which are nice. However you are looking for Ocean City ,Md.

Maui --

There%26#39;s yet another way people used to solve the linens problem.

There%26#39;s a sign at the linen shop in the outlets that says they won%26#39;t take returns of pillows, mattress pads, and sheets that are no longer in their original sealed packages. I talked to a clerk who said it%26#39;s because people would buy them at the beginning of their rental week, use them all week, and then try to return them!

Eeeeewwww!

In addition to the Virginia Street condos, there are also hundreds (if not thousands) of other condos and private houses for rent. These are great if you%26#39;re travelling with a group. (I think all probably have that linens restriction mentioned earlier.)

There are several web sites where you can see photos, prices, availability schedules, etc. I%26#39;ve used vrbo.com (vacation rentals by owner), and also jacklingo.com (I think they probably have the biggest selection). Coldwell Banker in Rehoboth also rents houses.

These get rented quickly (my husband and I own a 4 bedroom house with a pool about 3 blocks from the beach, and it%26#39;s already 90% rented for the season).

Don%26#39;t miss breakfast on the porch at Royal Treat (Wilmington Avenue)!

I was wondering (in the event I stay with First Virginia Condos), does anyone know anything about the parking situation? Since they are going to allow us only 1 space, if needed, is there any kind of secured long term parking? I only remember the meter parking and I really can%26#39;t see running to the meter every two hours, 24/7 for a week.
