Drovfe for more than 4hrs to reach Dover the previous time. Are there any routes (air?) that will take lesser time?

Lenee, the closest airports that receive international flights are Philadelphia and BWI. Probably 2 hour drives from each to Dover.

Will you recommend staying in Wilmington or Dover itself?

Lenee, it depends on what you want to do. Wilmington has recently been going through a revival. The Waterfront shops, brick walkway and restaurants are a nice addition to the minor league ballpark. It brings in lots of families to the area. There%26#39;s an Italian section of town with great restaurants, too. The Trolley Square part of Wilmington is an area of young professionals with lots of bars and eateries. Dover is home to the air force base and Delaware State University, so there will be lots of people (and traffic). The Dover Downs race track and slots has a newly expanded hotel and nightly horse racing. Dover is closer to the beaches, too.
