Hello all!
Since I have found the ultimate resource for all things Rehoboth, I thought I would pose another question before we arrived.
As I mentioned in an earlier post; my family (7 adults, 5 kids) and my cousins (6 adults, 2 kids) are planning on descending upon Rehoboth this year at the end of July (week of 23rd – 27th). During that week, it would be wonderful if all the adults could get away for a dinner together, but we are unsure of how to find a babysitter for the munchkins (ages range from 9 to 2).
From looking at Rehoboth.com there is a Drop-In Play %26amp; Learning Center, but it is only during the day. Since I cannot imagine we are the first family with this issue, does anyone know of somewhere to call for babysitters in the area?
Thanks!
Megan

Babysitters in Rehoboth
i tried looking for you....didn%26#39;t come up with anything except the place already mentioned, and one person advertising on ';craigs-list';.
i was hoping to find a directory of registered %26amp; trustworthy babysitters in the area...but if there is one, i couldn%26#39;t find it.
If the late hours at the Drop-in Play center don%26#39;t work for you, you might want to think hard about a very long lunch for the adults. As much as a challenge as you%26#39;ll find getting one professional sitter, you%26#39;ll definitely need two or possibly three given the number of kids (7) involved.
As for using non-professional babysitters, I wouldn%26#39;t be comfortable using total strangers in a strange town.
I wonder if you%26#39;d get any help by calling Cape Henlopen High School (capehenlopenschools.com/education/…).
Classes are over, but there must be some administrative personnel around, and maybe they can recommend a trustworthy student or even student teacher.
Or maybe call a local church. I know Epworth Methodist (http://www.epworth-rehoboth.org/) has a preschool, and maybe they%26#39;d be able to refer you to one of those teachers, who%26#39;d be off for the summer by now. Or even a responsible teen from their youth group, if they have one.
One last thought: Funland, the great little amusement park on the Boardwalk (http://www.funlandrehoboth.com/), hires tons of students each summer. Many live in a dorm-like facility by the park. Surely they don%26#39;t work 7 nights a week . . . so maybe the Funland owners could recommend one of their employees who%26#39;s off on the night you need a sitter. (Or, as previously suggested, maybe two employees. Seven kids, 9 and under, is a lot!)
It%26#39;s tough -- hope you find a good solution. If you do, hope you%26#39;ll post it here -- along with a trip report with any other experiences we could all learn from -- when your week is over.
Have a great time when you come!
Don%26#39;t want to steer the post away, but the Funland website is really informative and brings back wonderful memories, I had not heard the Dentino family name mentioned in years.

A few months ago we happened upon a nice little documentary on Funland on the local PBS station, WHYY.
I just tracked it down, and it%26#39;s available for purchase:
http://www.teleduction.com/order/funland.htm. You might enjoy it if you have fond memories of Funland.
Thank you for that!
I%26#39;m actually considering relocating to the area in the future, my family still has the old house at Indian. If we have another mild season here (hurricanes) the real estate market should come back and my wife and I can sell.
I%26#39;ll keep the taxi fleet here, it%26#39;s managed quite well and I don%26#39;t have to be here, so I%26#39;m looking forward to returning to my roots and being closer to family in DC. They miss us and we%26#39;re ready for some seasonal change instead of always hot!
Thanks for all the great suggestions, they will be very useful!
The only place that I know of is Kids Cottage. They are not open all night but are open until 9:00 or 10:00. You can also try the state website www.delaware.gov. Under ';How Do I'; there is a link for child care providers. There is a pdf list of all licensed providers that can be searched by area. Some have night hours and allow for drop ins.
