Can anyone recommend Sea Colony??

Does anyone know the best places to rent at Sea Colony that are under $2000 weekly for a family of 6? I am coming from Pittsburgh, have never been to Bethany Beach before and would like to make sure whatever I rent is a nice place.

Thanks for any help.

I suppose the units can vary quite a bit; some owners are a lot fussier than others.

I would suggest trying to book directly through an owner from a site such as vrbo.com...in most cases they will be able to furnish you with actual photos of the unit. You can usually tell what type of landlord they are from your interaction with them.

I would just make sure if the owner does not live nearby that there is someone local you can call if any problems arise. Also, housekeeping is usually not included when renting direct from the owner.

Sea Colony is ok....if you like big crowded condo towers and suburban type developments.

I%26#39;d recommend taking a look at the Ocean Ridge community, about a mile north of S.C., big houses that easily hold up to 10, for $2000 or under, if you go before Memorial day. The weather is warm in May.

Check out VRBO dot com and search ';ocean ridge';. Great private beach w/lifegaurds, quiet, gated community, beautiful houses, close to Rehoboth, Ocean City, Bethany Beach, which all have many restaurants, boardwalks, amusement rides for the kids. Rehoboth has a lot of good stores, and there are many state parks, golf courses, and other attractions.

Pghnana --

Sea Colony has high-rise condos on the oceanfront, but west of the main highway there are hundreds of townhouses and villas that are part of the development, too. Not really a beach feel, but a nice setting with small lakes, woods, and walking trails. Though some can be a mile from the ocean, there is a shuttle bus to the beach. In that area there are several community pools as well as tennis courts and a fitness center.

It depends on what you want and when you%26#39;re coming. Friends have owned a Sea Colony 3BR villa a mile from the beach, and it suited them just fine. They had young kids who actually preferred the pools with an occasional brief visit to the oceanfront. If you need oceanside to be happy, the budget may be problematic during the season. I%26#39;d guess it will be difficult to find a 3BR condo oceanside (maybe even on the west side) for $2,000 between mid-June and Labor Day.

Here%26#39;s a real estate company that seems to specialize in Sea Colony:

If you don%26#39;t care about all the amenities like pools and tennis courts, but you definitely want to be in Bethany (a great family beach resort), you could look into rentals of non-development properties through other Bethany realtors or, as someone else suggested, private rentals.

SC beaches are no doubt very nice, but a whole lot farther than Bethany. If you want to drive farther than DE, check out the Outer Banks in NC. Closer than SC, and just beautiful! We own a condo in Dewey Beach, DE, north of Bethany, but if the Outer Banks were closer than 6 hours away from us in southeast PA, we%26#39;d be there in a heartbeat!
