Eminent Domain and Ruddertowne

there%26#39;s been talk of an eminent domain seizure of ruddertowne by the city, the belief being that there is a public interest in maintaining the complex as is, given that it is the economic core of Dewey. i hope they do it!! highway one has been walking all over the town throughout this process and it%26#39;s time they%26#39;re put in their place. tired of this property rights nonsense!

If you do your homework you will find that the previous town government in Dewey forced this situation .The mayor who was voted out wanted to tax the night clubs a $1,000 a night and cut back on night music on the decks . It apears he and his group wanted to turn Dewey into a bedroom community . The present administration is working hard to keep things as they are.. However the group that owns these properties worries about what could happen after another group takes over town government down the road. They can make millions converting the property with no futher hassles. What would you do in their place?

';highway one has been walking all over the town...';

I think if you read up on this %26amp; talk to residents you may learn that it has not been all that one sided and perhaps even, at times, been the other way around.

';...tired of property rights nonsense!';

Nonsense? What if you owned very valuable property and were being told what you can %26amp; can%26#39;t do with it? Planning %26amp; zoning decisions should include the input of property owners, should follow proper procedures and with mutual respect shown by all parties in the process. This has not been the case to date.

I also believe eminent domain should only be sparingly used for the purpose for which it was intended, and I certainly don%26#39;t think this situation warrants it.
