We%26#39;re having a family reunion April 6 - 9 and it%26#39;s the first time for all of us. Can anyone suggest a restaurant that will accommodate children and adults (17 in all), maybe like a good burger joint? Also, are there go-karts in Rehoboth and are they opened yet? Thanks for your help!
Where to eat Easter weekend? Most of the amusements are not quite open fully. Funland on the boardwalk won%26#39;t be open until May. Jungle Jim%26#39;s on Route One might be partially open weekends in April -- no water slides up and running of course, but the mini-golf, batting cages, and Go-Karts usually are operational. The Go-Karts at the Midway Shopping Centre (near the movie theatre) are open all year long on weekends, seven days a week during the season.
As far as a good family group restaurant, there are several that would be great. The Summer House on Rehoboth Ave is great for large family groups. The food is good and the menu is extensive enough so everyone can find something they like. Also good are Claws, which serves mostly seafood, and Louie%26#39;s, which is the best pizza and Italian at the beach. Grotto%26#39;s is maybe more famous, and it is tasty too (great subs), but Louis%26#39;s is the best.
You should check with the front desk of your hotel. (If you are in a hotel, that is.) I work at the Atlantis Inn on Rehoboth Ave and we refer people to places for food on a regular basis. Locals always have the best suggestions; you can easily ask the person behind the register anywhere what their favorites are or what they hear from others.
Have a great time!
Where to eat Easter weekend?
i don%26#39;t think the summer house will be open yet. i could be wrong, but i don%26#39;t think they open till may.
i can%26#39;t be very helpful...we rarely go out to eat when we%26#39;re there...and if we do, it%26#39;s usually two or four of us at more of an ';adult'; place.
maybe the rusty rudder in dewey beach would work for you? it%26#39;s a big place %26amp; they certainly have sandwiches %26amp; stuff.
The Rudder Deck would be ideal if it is a nice day . Sit in the open air by the bay and have decent burgers and fries. Drinks are good.. Kids could wander down and play on the bay beach.
Our family ate at the Big Fish Grill. Informal seafood restaurant and they had really good food. White paper on the table with crayons so the kids can draw on the table, bar area with TV for sports fans. We had a great time- they put tables together for our group of 12.
Hi,
Just drove by Summer House today (3/29) and it looked like it was open for lunch, so presumably dinner, too.
Jake%26#39;s Seafood has two locations, one in downtown Rehoboth and one on Route 1. Their seafood chowder is outstanding, other dishes we%26#39;ve had in recent years just OK. But prices are good and they could probably accommodate your group if you make reservations ahead of time.
Second the Rusty Rudder recommendation, though again, the food is usually just OK, especially dinner vs. lunch. But you cannot beat the view -- if the weather is good, the sunsets are spectacular.
The Rusty Rudder for a group of 17....whew.....sure, it%26#39;s a great view, but that check could equal the GNP of a developing nation! And for ho-hum food, IMO.
It%26#39;s really hard to find good casual places that are reasonable in Rehoboth...with kids at regular menu prices it can get a little painful. We like Nicolas, and the Crystal is good for breakfast. For burgers I%26#39;d probably just do Friendly%26#39;s or Ruby Tuesdays.
Here%26#39;s a suggestion: The LHR (Lighthouse Restaurant) at the drawbridge on Lewes harbor has a $5. buffet on Fridays (4 to 7pm I believe) that includes peel %26amp; eat shrimp (or order off the menu). Kids are welcome on the enclosed deck...they would have a blast checking out the harbor %26amp; the returning head boats....the fish cleaning pavillion is right there...tell them to watch for the writhing eels that congregate at the waste chute under the pavillion.....then mention ';Fear Factor';...anyone for a swim? EEEEWWWWW!
I%26#39;m sure you will find a lot of things open for Easter weekend and no shortage of fellow visitors.
