Family Delaware Beaches

Hello, I haven%26#39;t been to Delaware beaches and I was wondering:

Which is the best for a family of 3 (2 yr old child)?

Were looking to stay at end of July/Beg of Aug and would at least like a 1 bedroom hotel or condo, as close to beach as possible, ocean front would be great. Any help?

Ocean city is way to honky tonk. It%26#39;s the city at the beach.

I suggest Bethany or Lewes.

Bethany is more family oriented- a safe walk to the ice cream store on the board walk. local bands on the boardwalk at night.

Lewes has more stores and restaurants. There is a state park to walk in or bike through.

Both beaches are 30 min apart and can make great day trips to each other.

Rebhobath is also VERY honky tonk. Dewey is a college/beach area with night life.

We love Dewey. Pretty small, but good for our family of 4. Two kids 13 and 15.

Try Adams Ocean Front for a hotel. Will be there this week and love the place.

I wouldn%26#39;t consider Dewey to be a good ';family oriented beach'; unless you don%26#39;t mind the partying college/late teens crowd (actually the partying starts up after the hangover wears off around the dinner hour on through the night). I guess the beach might be ok during the day but, the town gets mobbed with the younger set lining up at the restaurants and bars throughout the evening. Of course your child is young enough not to ask questions about certain behaviors or copy them yet (young teens might be another story...). Bethany, Rehoboth, Lewes, and Fenwick Island are more family oriented beaches/towns. They also have great facilities available like bathrooms or showers. Good luck.

Delaware is very family friendly.Lewes or Rehoboth would be great . A 2 y.o. could enjoy the kiddie rides at Playland and they are cheap. Lewes has a beach on the Bay which would be great for a child your age.Bethany is nice but had a lot of rules. There are nice state parks at Cape Henlopen (Lewes) Indian River (Between Dewey and Bethany) and Fenwick.
