delaware?

hi...was told delaware has good beaches...suggestions? rehoboth and bethany beach looked nice when i did a search, but any feedback will be appreciated...would like to go in august?

delaware?

adripink, what do you mean by good beaches? Rehoboth has very rough surf for swimming, but I like strolling the boardwalk with the wife and kids. (We haven%26#39;t stayed overnight in Rehoboth in ages. We%26#39;ve been going to the Outer Banks in NC). Ocean City NJ or Ocean City MD would be my choice for a young family. If you%26#39;re single I would recommend Dewey Beach, DE or Wildwood, NJ. They are the party beaches. Rehoboth just rebuilt the main drag (Rehoboth Ave.) Very nice brick sidewalks and lighting. There%26#39;s a great divesity of stores along the Avenue, plus a great diversity of people at the beach. Rehoboth is ';alternative lifestyle'; friendly. Bethany is laid back. Late August would be my choice for any DE beaches. The kids go back to school on the 27th.

delaware?

It depends on the weather condition whether the surf is ';rough'; Sometimes there are not enough wave to boogieboard. .Personally I would use Cape Henlopen State Park or Indian River State Park which are very close to town . Rehoboth is a very open relaxed town .Bethany is more upscale and';refined';.

Just a locals opinion..

I much prefer delaware beach towns to say Ocean City MD. I don%26#39;t know what the draw is to the latter, but it%26#39;s just too much commercialism for me. We just got back from Rehoboth/Lewes this past weekend and had a great time. There is plenty of shopping both near the boardwalk and in town and at the nearby tax free outlets. The beaches are great, and like the previous poster said Henlopen State Park is superb. Excellent walking/biking trails, beaches, great scenery and just an enjoyable place to be. The good thing about Lewes, Rehoboth, and Bethany, is that they are all very close to one another so even if you stay in one you can still enjoy what all of these towns have to offer.
