quiet beachfront cottage to share with husband and dog?

We live in Nj and are looking for a clean, quiet beach on the east coast within 10 hours driving distance to rent a beachfront cottage and hang with our dog for a week in May. I am having trouble finding this kind of place. We%26#39;d like it to be close to good restaurants and the beach should be dog friendly (he%26#39;s a bulldog) - we don%26#39;t want to go anywhere too hot, but not somewhere too cool either.

I hope someone can help me!

Unless you%26#39;re coming Memorial Day, you have the advantage that pretty much any beach will be quiet (especially on the weekdays)--even those that are somewhat ';loud'; in season.

Of all the Delaware beaches, I%26#39;d consider Lewes, Bethany and Fenwick Island to be the most quiet year-round. But again, don%26#39;t let that stop you from considering Dewey or Rehoboth at the time of year you%26#39;re coming.

With light traffic volume, you can easily drive from one town to the next in ten minutes to check them out as well.

In short, I don%26#39;t think you can make a mistake that time of year wherever you stay. Weatherwise, I woudn%26#39;t expect anything much different than you%26#39;ll find at the Jersey beaches. You probably won%26#39;t notice much climate and water temperature differences at the East Coast beaches in May until you hit South Carolina, which may be past your ten-hour guideline.

I can%26#39;t personally speak to the dog aspects of the Delaware beaches, but I did find a guide which will point you to some dog-friendly accomodations in these towns:

Thank you! I will definitely look into these. We are also considering North Carolina, hoping for at least a slight difference in tempature. Thanks again.

Some of the beaches in the state parks are dog friendly .Most boardwalks and beaches are severely restricted during the season.
