Need Help

I will be traveling across the US with my husband this coming summer. He’s a long haul truck driver and me and my son plan to join him for a few weeks every now and then. I have no clue where well end up stopping in your state so I was hoping you could all help me by telling me cool kid friendly places to see. I know there will be times where we’ll be waiting a day or so to pick up or drop off and I’d love to use that free time to explore areas. I’m the kind of person who likes to plan as much as possible. So any and all recommendations of places to stop and see would be greatly appreciated

Thanks so much for all your help

In Dover around the center of the state is Dover Air Force Base. They have a museum . There is also is Agriculture Museum in Dover which is pretty neat . Farther south on the western side is Trap Pond State Park. Close to that in Laurel are 2 flea markets open on week ends. Southeast Delaware are the Ocean Beaches.Lewes is family oriented with a beach on the Delaware Bay and Ocean access at Cape Henlopen State Park . The park has a bathhouse and food with a guarded beach . You can sit on the beach and watch the dolphins fairly close in. There are fishing boats going from the canal in Lewes. Headed down the highway from Lewes there are movies, tax free shopping outlets and two amusement parks. Rehoboth Beach is the next town offering a nice boardwalk and Ocean Beach The town offers everything from burgers and fries /ice cream to first class restaurants Next is Dewey beach Nice beach and several bars .On into Indian River State Park offers swimming beaches ,fishing beaches on both the Ocean and Rehoboth Bay . When in these areas pay attention to posted speed limits and parking regulations and meters There is great recreation in these areas with strict enforcement..

Lisa,

How old is your son? Does he (or you and your husband) have any special interests? Small as it is, Delaware has a lot of variety in activities.

Hope you enjoy your time in the East. My husband grew up in Gold Beach but has been on the East Coast ever since he graduated from college. He still misses Oregon (but not the rain!).
