Punkin' Chunkin' Festival '07

Since I had a hard time finding any information from previous guests who attended this festival, I thought I%26#39;d write one. We are 2 couples - me/husband and my brother/his girlfriend - all around 40 yrs. old. We mistakenly left from home (a 2 hr. drive) in late morning. When we arrived at the festival site, we sat in a line to get in for almost an hour! The parking lot situation was just ridiculous. It was as if they had no idea we were all coming! Every year the festival has been getting much, much larger. This year they anticipated 20,000 people. When I went 13 yrs. ago, there were maybe 1000 people so it has grown exponentially. Provide proper parking if you%26#39;re going to throw a huge festival!! So, my first piece of advise is to ARRIVE EARLY. Once we got inside, the people dissipated into the huge festival area and it wasn%26#39;t crowded at all. The machines - 100 in all - were all totally unique and it was interesting to watch them launch. The music onstage was great and they had a lot of awesome junk food to buy. There seemed to be quite a few vendors, although we wound up not shopping much. You can bring your own cooler and carry around beers, which is cool. No alcohol sold on premises. It was a good time except for the line to get in. www.punkinchunkin.com

Punkin' Chunkin' Festival '07

Thanks for posting this......

PunkinChunkin is not a '; professionally'; or ';commercially'; organized event...it is organized by the founders of the event who are passionate about the competition but do not have making a profit at the forefront of their plans. They make every effort to deal with major traffic but often the rural roads just can%26#39;t handle it. This was also the first year at a new location so there had been no chance to do any logistic fine tuning.

Surely you will wait in line if you arrive late morning/early afternoon: this is to be expected, so leave earlier next time.
