Bridge to Virginia?

Is it possible to drive down the DE coast all the way to Virginia? Is it a pleasant trip?

Bridge to Virginia?

I live in Dover, Delaware and if you take 13 south, it drives you straight thur Delaware towards Salisbury, MD. It will take you straight to Virginia and you access the Chesapeake Bay Bridge tunnel. It%26#39;s about 4 hours drive time if you%26#39;re leaving from central Delaware. It%26#39;s a nice drive but I suggest you don%26#39;t take the trip on a Friday midday or Saturday all day. Traffic especially now is horrendous and will only get worse as the summer months approach. Take my advice and choose some off times to take the trip.

Bridge to Virginia?

Hello there,

I am very familiar with this area , and the Bridge-tunnel on 13.

The previous post is quite right about the traffic on the week-ends as well.

If you are looking to drive right along the beaches/coast then you are about an hour or two out of your way to the Rte. 13 south.

What I may suggest is that you look on a map, which I am doing right now. DO NOT BE CONFUSED by the Rte.#%26#39;s. There is a Rte. 13, a Rte. 113, and there is a Rte. 1. In order for you to properly get on the Chesapeake Bridge-tunnel you need to stay on Rte.13 which runs thru Seaford, Delmar, and Salisbury, MD.

I like to think that this is a pleasant trip, and it is about a 4 hour trip like the other post said. You go right past Chincoteague which would make a fabulous stop as well.

Sometimes just to break up the same old drive down 1-95 I travel this way to Williamsburg, VA, it is another 2 hours long this way, but it is worth it.

Hope this info helps you out. Good luck!

jaylyn, saw your post on one of the other threads about williamsburg jamestown. We traveled down there for a vacation getaway two weeks ago and loved it! Thanks!
