camping on beach or nearby?

i%26#39;m passing through delaware on a monday or tuesday night in early august, I was wondering, since there are no hostels or cheap lodging round bethany beach it seems, if there is anywhere to park and camp overnight, maybe on the beach?

I don%26#39;t think there is any legal camping on the beach in Bethany or elsewhere (most beaches are closed from appx. 1 am to 5 am specifically to enforce this) but you can camp at the Delaware Seashore SP at Indian River Inlet (the campground is on the river side but the ocean beach is just across the highway). This is only about 5 miles north of Bethany.

I would check asap for reservations : destateparks.com

If they are full, you could try Cape Henlopen SP about 10 miles north in Lewes. They have camping in the sand dunes.

I would not try ';boondocking'; as you would probably get fined.
