Holiday Inn question

Just wondering if the Holiday Inn at 1203 Christiana Road in Newark, DE has changed names or closed, as the hotel is no longer listed on the Intercontinental Hotels website. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Holiday Inn question

It%26#39;s listed as Holiday Inn Wilmington-Newark on the webites I found. All of the reviews give it about 3.5-4 out of 5 stars. It%26#39;s an old hotel, but clean from what I%26#39;ve read. There%26#39;s a Hampton Inn right behind it, if you%26#39;d rather stay in a newer place. (302) 737-2700 is the number.

I don%26#39;t plan on staying at this hotel or any in the area. I noticed that the hotel was not listed in the 2007 IC Hotels directory and now it is no longer listed in the Hotel %26amp; Travel Index, so it most likely has closed. If someone can verify that this hotel has closed, please let me know and I%26#39;ll ask to have the hotel%26#39;s listing removed from this website.

The Holiday Inn is indeed closed. In fact, it%26#39;s been demolished.

They are rebuilding it. The old hotel had exterior doors. (The doors to the rooms opened out to the sidewalk)

Most businesses that send their employees on travel insist the rooms open to an interior (controlled access) hallway. It was a safey issue.

The community is looking forward to a nice new hotel. Hope it%26#39;s open in time for UD graduation/NASCAR races!

Update: They%26#39;ve finally broken ground for the new Holiday Inn Express. The sign at the construction site indicates they expect to be open for business Fall of 2008. It%26#39;s too bad they%26#39;ll miss the 2008 UD graduation, but maybe be open for the Dover fall race.
