i%26#39;m SURE i saw somewhere on here that sydney%26#39;s is totally defunct.
what next? i%26#39;ve already seen the demise of SO MANY of my favorite places...pierre%26#39;s pantry, bozie%26#39;s market, wheaton%26#39;s chop house, sir guy%26#39;s....not to mention the convenience store a block %26amp; a half from our house where i always stopped for milk %26amp; newspapers!
what places does anyone else mourn the demise of in the dewey/rehoboth area?
general moaning
Being able to get inside the sub towers!
Betty%26#39;s Bakery
Is the Pink Palace still there? On the way to North Shores, in the Acres.
general moaning
Places come %26amp; go so fast you need a chalkboard to keep crossing them off %26amp; filling in the new names.
KWT:
You can still go to the top of the one tower in CHSP...can see Cape May on clear days.
indeed you can! i climbed it with my best friend %26amp; my dogs a couple years ago...TOO COOL, what a view! the echoes you make while climbing reminded me of certain scenes from ';lord of the rings'; LOL
The towers can be pretty wild on windy days because the sighting ';slits'; let in just enough air to buffet around the round interior...I swear you can feel them move.
KWT seems to be suggesting you could once get in some of the other towers. I%26#39;m sure you could still get in a few with a screwdriver %26amp; prybar (as partying teens demonstrate from time to time!) but there would be no way to climb up them...the one that%26#39;s open in the park is the only one that was fitted with a spiral metal staircase.
CHSP also gives guided tours of the underground batteries several times a month....there is a small fee and registration is required.
Yes we used to sneak into the ones south of Indian beach....back in the day!
