Has anyone stayed at the Surf Club Hotel in Dewey Beach - thanks for your input.
Surf Club HotelYes, several years ago off season. We liked it very much. Many of the units are efficiencies with Murphy beds. The 3 of us were quite comfortable for a long weekend. I was actually thinking about this place while I was reading your other post. Have you been to the Rehoboth website - rehoboth.com. Lots of info there. I am a native Delawarean and have spent the last 40 of 47 summers at the Delaware beaches. There%26#39;s something for everyone and not nearly (although getting close) as crowded as Ocean City, Maryland. The boardwalks are totally different in Delaware though - not nearly as many rides.
Surf Club HotelJust re-read your other post and had a thought . . . You might want to stay clear of Dewey Beach during the beginning of June. That%26#39;s around the time of what we call ';Senior Week';. High school seniors celebrating their graduation. Dewey has a reputation as big party town. Thought you should be warned!
The Surf Club is one of the good hotels in Dewey Beach. I am a employee of the Town and agree with Madstew. I wouldn%26#39;t come around Dewey begining of June unless your the party type, but this year will be the first year we start enforcing a noise ordiance. No loud music after 11 p.m. and no loud music from any home 50 feet away. As for the hotel it is really nice. Stay here if you want to come to dewey!! :)
The Surf Club IS nice. The only drawback (as someone previously mentioned) is the ';Murphy Beds';. While some folks don%26#39;t mind them, I found I just couldn%26#39;t get comfortable at ALL and ended up buying an inflatable mattress to sleep on for the rest of the week.
The room we stayed in had a small microwave and fridge, which was VERY convenient for grabbing a quick lunch. AND, it%26#39;s right off the beach, or rather it WAS.
When we first went, there was barely any beach at high tide. Maybe enough room for one line of towels before the wall. Some folks on the ocean view side would feed seagulls right from their windows.
They have been working on restoring the beach, so the distance to the water is farther. We found it helpful to throw the kids toys in a little wagon that they could pull.
Hi Rennibug,
We have stayed at the Surf Club 6 times and have always enjoyed it. For the money, easily the best value on the beach...believe me as I have stayed at other places in Rehoboth and Dewey...this is by far the best for the money and location. Have also stayed at at Atlantic Oceanside, Southwinds, and Sands...spend the little extra and stay here. Staff is great, towels are plentiful, umbrellas, bikes, chairs, coffee great room, the beds arent bad but a litle lumpy...do what I do and sleep on the window seat bed, open the window, close off the doors to the suite, you will love it...stayed last year and loved it again.
